Why quotes go cold
A prospect asks for a quote, you send it, and then life happens on both sides. They get busy, you get busy, and three weeks later the quote is stale. The fix isn't working harder. It's having follow-up messages ready to go so sending one takes seconds instead of a blank-page struggle.
Build a follow-up set once
Open ChatGPT or Claude and give it the context: the line of coverage, the prospect's main concern, and your tone. Then ask for a short sequence. A simple prompt works well:
"Write four short follow-up texts for a prospect who received an auto insurance quote and hasn't replied. Friendly, no pressure, under 300 characters each. Day 1, day 3, day 7, and day 14."
Edit what comes back so it sounds like you, then save it in your CRM or notes app.
What good follow-ups include
- A reminder of the one thing they cared about, like a lower deductible or bundling
- An easy question they can answer with one word
- A clear next step, such as a five-minute call to review options
- Permission to say "not now" without awkwardness
Keep it compliant
Never let AI promise rates, coverage, or approvals. Read every message before it goes out, make sure your texting follows the consent rules that apply to you, and keep your licensing details accurate. AI drafts the words; you stay responsible for them.
The payoff
Consistent follow-up is where many policies are actually written. With a ready-made sequence, you stop relying on memory and start treating every quote like it still has a chance, because it usually does.
